Why concrete sinks in Central Illinois
The ground under Peoria concrete works against it. Central Illinois sits on clay-heavy glacial soils that swell when wet and shrink when dry. Winter makes it worse: water under a slab freezes, expands, thaws and washes soil away. A slab poured level twenty years ago now tips, cracks and collects water.

How concrete lifting works
Instead of demolishing the slab, we drill small holes, pump material underneath, and float the slab back to level:

- Lift
Using mudjacking (a cement slurry) or polyjacking (expanding polyurethane foam), the slab rises gradually back into position.
- Fill and seal
Holes are patched, and joints and cracks are sealed to keep water out.
- Back in use within hours
Driveways are typically drivable the same day with foam, the next day with slurry.
Replacement means demolition, hauling, forming, pouring, then about a week of curing before you can park on it, usually at two to three times the price. For a structurally sound slab, lifting is the affordable option.
